Chapter 1

THE STRUGGLE

Where it all began

Palakkad-ൽ ഒരു self-financing college-ൽ നിന്ന് B.Tech Mechanical Engineering complete ചെയ്തു. Campus placement -- zero. Off-campus drives -- 20+ attend ചെയ്തു, ഒന്നിലും select ആയില്ല. "Your college is not in our preferred list" -- ഈ sentence ഞാൻ എത്ര തവണ കേട്ടു എന്ന് ഓർമ്മയില്ല.

ഒരു engineering graduate ആയിട്ടും job ഇല്ലാതെ വീട്ടിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നത് -- ആ feeling describe ചെയ്യാൻ words ഇല്ല. അച്ഛൻ retired ആണ്, ചെറിയ pension. ഞാൻ family-ക്ക് ഒരു burden ആണ് എന്ന feeling ദിവസം തോറും grow ചെയ്തു.

THE DISCOVERY

A light in the dark

ഒടുവിൽ ഒരു food delivery app-ൽ delivery partner ആയി join ചെയ്തു. Engineering degree ഉള്ള ഞാൻ ബൈക്കിൽ food delivery ചെയ്യുന്നു. ആരോട് എങ്കിലും career ചോദിച്ചാൽ "ഒരു startup-ൽ work ചെയ്യുന്നു" എന്ന് lie പറയും. ആ lie ഉള്ളിൽ burn ചെയ്യുമായിരുന്നു.

THE TRANSFORMATION

Becoming an engineer

ഒരു വർഷം delivery ചെയ്തു. ഒരു ദിവസം rain-ൽ deliver ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ bike slip ആയി. Phone screen crack ആയി. ആ moment-ൽ -- rain-ൽ road-ൽ wet ആയി ഇരുന്ന്, broken phone hand-ൽ -- ഞാൻ decide ചെയ്തു: ഇനി ഇത് continue ചെയ്യാൻ ആകില്ല.

EDWartens-നെ കുറിച്ച് ഒരു WhatsApp group-ൽ ഒരു post കണ്ടു. Course fee-ക്കുള്ള money ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു. ഞാൻ എന്റെ bike -- delivery job-ന് use ചെയ്തിരുന്ന bike -- sell ചെയ്തു. THE TRIUMPH

Victory at last

EDWartens AEP course-ൽ Robotics module ആയിരുന്നു എന്നെ most excite ചെയ്തത്. FANUC, ABB, KUKA robots-ന്റെ programming, VR simulation-ൽ robotic arm operation -- Mechanical Engineering-ൽ textbook-ൽ diagrams ആയി കണ്ട robots ഇപ്പോൾ virtually operate ചെയ്യുന്നു! PLC-Robotics integration, SCADA monitoring, industrial communication protocols -- ഓരോ module-ഉം ഒരു new world open ചെയ്തു.

FANUC India -- world's largest robotics company -- ൽ interview call വന്നപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ ഒരു moment freeze ആയി. Delivery boy ആയിരുന്ന ഞാൻ FANUC-ൽ interview? But EDWartens-ന്റെ training ഞാൻ prepared ആക്കിയിരുന്നു. Rs 10 LPA offer.

ഇന്ന് ഞാൻ FANUC India-യിൽ Robotics Engineer ആണ്. Industrial robots program ചെയ്യുന്നു. Factory automation solutions design ചെയ്യുന്നു. ഒരു bike sell ചെയ്ത decision ആണ് ഇതെല്ലാം possible ആക്കിയത്. ആ rain-ൽ road-ൽ ഇരുന്ന moment ഞാൻ give up ചെയ്തിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ, ഇന്നും delivery ചെയ്ത് നടക്കുമായിരുന്നു.
