I am an automation engineer, trained on Siemens S7 and Allen-Bradley. I trained inside a working automation company rather than a classroom, so most of what I know came from panels that had to work. Name one project here. Say what you personally did: the logic, the panel, the screens, the commissioning. What I want next is a junior role on live plant in manufacturing / fmcg, where I am commissioning rather than watching.
Say it out loud
Reading it is not rehearsing it. Say it aloud five times, then say it without looking. If it runs past forty seconds, cut the middle. And never name a project you cannot be questioned about, because the next thing out of their mouth will be a question about it.
How to use it
- 1Pick where you are saying it. The interview version is longer than the job-fair one.
- 2Name one project you can be questioned about, because you will be.
- 3Say what you want next. Most candidates leave this out, and it is the part that makes you easy to place.
- 4Say it out loud until you can do it without reading. Reading it is not rehearsing it.
