Common questions
Is LOGO! a PLC?
Siemens calls it a logic module. It programs like a small PLC in FBD or LAD and is the right tool for building and small-machine tasks; the S7-200 SMART modules show the step up to a compact PLC.
Do I need hardware?
No. The LOGO!Soft Comfort demo simulates every block. A LOGO! 8 starter kit is inexpensive if you want to wire things.
Some source lessons are members-only. Are they included?
No. Fourteen members-only analog lessons from one series were left out; the analog module uses public lessons from two other creators instead.
Why is the S7-200 SMART here?
It is the natural next step from LOGO! for small machines in India and China, and its free tool makes the basics quick to learn.
Is the course really free?
Yes. Every module, practice task and assessment. You create an account so your progress is saved and the assessments can be marked. The certificate is the only paid item, and only if you want it.
What certificate do I get, and is it a Siemens qualification?
An EDWartens Certificate of Completion, issued when you pass the final assessment, with a verification code anyone can check. It is not a Siemens credential and is never described as one.
Who made the video lessons?
