How does the final assessment work?

The short answer

It opens when every module is complete: 15 multiple-choice questions from the whole course, 60 minutes, and 60% (9 of 15) to pass. You have 3 attempts.

The final assessment

  • 15

    Questions

  • 60 minutes

    Time limit

  • 60%

    To pass (9 of 15)

  • 3

    Attempts, then a 24-hour wait

Each free course has one assessment, the final. It is free, and it is what decides whether you can earn the certificate.

  • 15 questions, drawn from every module, one correct answer each
  • 60 minutes
  • 60% to pass, which is 9 of 15
  • 3 attempts; after the third, a 24-hour wait and then a fresh paper

How to start it:

  1. In your portal, open Assessments and choose Start the final beside your course. (You can also open the last module of the course and use its Final assessment tab.)
  2. Read the instructions and tick the box to confirm. On the Assessments page it asks you to check your name, because that is how it is printed on your certificate.
  3. Choose Begin the exam (or Start the exam from the course page). It opens in full screen where your browser allows.
  4. You see one question at a time. Move around with the palette, and flag any you want to come back to. Flags are for you only.
  5. Submit when you are done and confirm once. Anything you did not answer is marked wrong.

Every attempt is a fresh paper, with the questions and options shuffled. Please do the assessment alone and without notes: the certificate says you know the course.
