What is the optional lab practice in a course?
The short answer
Some free courses link to optional practice in the free 3D lab at lab.edwartens.com. It opens in your browser, needs no install, and never blocks your progress or your certificate.
Learn, then practise if you want
1Watch and read
Finish the module's lesson and notes
2Open the practice
Optional: the lab level opens in a new tab
3Carry on
Your course progress never waits for the lab
Some modules in our free courses end with a link to a matching level in the free 3D lab at lab.edwartens.com. There you try what the lesson taught: wiring, ladder logic or setting up equipment, in a 3D scene in your browser.
The practice is optional:
- skipping it never stops you finishing a module, taking the final assessment or getting your certificate
- it opens in a new browser tab and needs no software to install
- it is free
The lab runs best on a laptop or a large tablet in an up-to-date Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. Your work in the lab is kept in the browser you used, so come back on the same device to carry on.
The lab is run on edwartens.com. If a lab level does not open, see Which browsers and devices work? or contact a person.
