What are the job simulations in my programme?

The short answer

A job simulation is a working week at a fictional Indian company, played on your screen at sim.edwartens.com. Each paid programme includes some. They are optional, and finishing one with a score of 60 or more earns a certificate of completion.

How a simulation runs

  1. 1Sit at your desk

Email, chat, documents, work orders and permits

  2. 2Take the tasks

    Colleagues give you real tasks

  3. 3Plan, decide, hand in

    Shift by shift

  4. 4Read the debrief

    After each shift

A job simulation is a working week at a company, on your screen. You sit at a desk with email, chat, documents, work orders and permits, the site in 3D, and colleagues who give you real tasks. You plan, decide and hand in work shift by shift, and get a debrief after each shift.

Yours are the Indian editions: each is set at a fictional Indian company in a real Indian city or industrial area, with rupees and India's own rules and standards. The companies and people are made up. They are training, not a job, work experience or placement.

Which ones your programme includes

  • AEP (five): Maintenance Electrical Engineer, Control Panel Design Engineer, PLC Programmer, SCADA and HMI Engineer, and Commissioning Engineer.
  • PGDIA and EPGDIA, live online and self-paced (four): PLC Programmer, Maintenance Electrical Engineer, SCADA and HMI Engineer, and Commissioning Engineer.
  • AIP (four): Data Analyst, Machine Learning Engineer, Computer Vision Engineer, and AI and LLM Application Engineer.

How to start one

Start a job simulation

Your portal

  1. Click Programme
  2. Click Job simulations
  3. Click Start

It opens at sim.edwartens.com, signed in

Open Job simulations in the Programme group of your menu and choose Start (it reads Continue once you have begun). The simulation opens at sim.edwartens.com, signed in. Each card shows when it is best taken, your progress and your certificate.

What to know

  • Every simulation is open from the day you join. The note on when it is best taken is advice, never a lock. For example, the PGDIA and EPGDIA PLC Programmer suits you best after week 1.
  • They are optional. They do not affect your programme certificate. What they give you is a working week to talk about in interviews.
  • A certificate of completion. Finish a simulation with a score of 60 or more and you earn a Certificate of Completion (Job Simulation). It is separate from your programme certificate.
  • Use a laptop or desktop. They are best on one.
  • Your details. The simulations are run on edwartens.com by Wartens Ltd, our UK group company. When you open one from your portal, your name, email address and learner ID are passed so your progress comes back to your portal.

If a simulation does not open, try again in a minute. If it keeps happening, tell us from Support.
