Continuous improvement lead

From Green Belt to Black Belt: DMAIC and the basic tools, Lean with OEE and TPM, then hypothesis tests, regression and designed experiments for the projects a Black Belt leads.

One course at a time. The next unlocks when you are halfway through this one.

  1. Six Sigma Green Belt Training for Manufacturing course cover
    Step 1Quality managementIntermediate

Six Sigma Green Belt Training for Manufacturing

Free Six Sigma Green Belt course for production and quality staff: run DMAIC with Gage R&R, Cpk, tests and control charts. The certificate is optional and paid.

    • Turn a month of reject data into DPU, DPMO and a sigma level, and cost the problem
    • Fix a project with a one-page charter and a SIPOC, and write CTQs that carry a unit, a target and limits
    • Run a crossed Gage R&R and judge the gauge by percent study variation and number of distinct categories
    15 modules 14h 59mView course
  2. Lean Manufacturing, OEE and TPM course cover
    Step 2Manufacturing excellenceBeginner

    Lean Manufacturing, OEE and TPM

The shop-floor half of manufacturing excellence, built in the order a line is actually improved: value and the eight wastes, gemba walks and bottlenecks, lead time and takt time, value stream mapping, flow and cells, pull and kanban sizing, standard work and 5S. Then the two numbers a plant manager is judged on. OEE calculated from a real shift, the six big losses behind it, quick changeover, and total productive maintenance through its eight pillars and twelve implementation steps.

    • Calculate availability, performance, quality and OEE from one shift of real line data
    • Split a shift of downtime across the six big losses and name the one costing most
    • Draw a current-state value stream map with observed data boxes, then a future state you can reach
    15 modules 10h 45mView course
  3. Lean Six Sigma Black Belt course cover
    Step 3Quality managementAdvanced

    Lean Six Sigma Black Belt

The step after Green Belt: how a Black Belt chooses and charters projects tied to business goals, plans data collection and handles non-normal data, tests hypotheses in depth with power and sample size, runs one-way and two-way ANOVA, fits multiple and logistic regression, designs full and fractional factorial experiments, applies Lean flow and pull, hands over with a control plan, leads change and coaches Green Belts, and finishes with a full DMAIC case.

    • Rank and charter projects against business goals with the benefit stated in cost units
    • Plan data collection, size samples and handle non-normal data with transforms or rank-based tests
    • Run t-tests, paired tests, proportion, chi-square and Mann-Whitney tests with power and sample size

How the path works

Join the path and its first course is added to your account straight away; the next one is added when you are halfway through, so you never face a pile of unstarted courses. Each has its own progress, notes and final. Take them in the order shown: each assumes the one before. Each course has one assessment: a final of 15 questions drawn from every module, pass mark 60%, with 3 attempts and then a 24 hour wait, so the assessment checks that you followed the lessons rather than testing exam nerves.

Questions

Is the Continuous improvement lead free?
Yes. Every course in the path is free in full: lessons, notes, practice tasks and assessments. Joining the path adds all of them to your account in one step. The only paid item is the optional EDWartens Certificate of Completion for each course.
In what order should I take the courses?
In the order listed: each course assumes the one before it. Every course keeps its own progress, final and certificate, so you can also take one on its own.
Do I get one certificate for the whole path?
Certificates are per course, issued when you pass that course's final assessment and bought only if you want them. Finishing every course in a path gives you one certificate per course.
