Job Guarantee Training: What the Contract Should Actually Say Before You Pay

A guarantee you cannot read before paying is not a guarantee

Start here. If an institute will not show you the written terms before you hand over money, the guarantee is a marketing line. Everything below assumes you have the document in front of you.

Read it yourself. Do not accept a verbal summary, and do not accept "it is standard".

The five clauses that decide everything

1. What counts as a placement

This is the most important sentence in the document, and it is often the vaguest.

Look for whether the guarantee is discharged by:

  • An offer of employment, or
  • An interview opportunity, or
  • "Placement assistance", or
  • Any offer, at any salary, at any location

The last one matters more than people expect. If any offer discharges the guarantee, an institute can satisfy it with a role at a salary you cannot live on, in a city you cannot move to, and you have no recourse. Look for a stated minimum, or at least a stated location scope.

Ask directly: "If I am offered ₹9,000 a month in another state and I decline, has the guarantee been met?" The answer tells you what you are buying.

2. What you have to do

Every legitimate guarantee has conditions on you, and that is reasonable. Look for:

  • Attendance thresholds. What percentage, and how measured?
  • Assessment requirements. What if you fail a module, is there a re-sit?
  • Interview obligations. How many must you attend? What happens if you decline one?
  • Deadlines. Is there a window after which you lose eligibility?

Reasonable conditions are a good sign, not a bad one. Unreasonable ones, like requiring you to accept any offer or attend an unlimited number of interviews anywhere in India, are how a guarantee becomes unenforceable in practice.

3. How the refund actually works

If they cannot place you, what happens?

  • How much comes back? All of it, or the tuition minus registration, materials, exam fees and administration? "100% refund" that excludes 30% of what you paid is not 100%.
  • When? Within how many days of what trigger event?
  • In what form? Cash back, or credit towards another course? A credit note is not a refund.
  • What do you have to do to claim it? Some processes are deliberately onerous.

4. The time window

When does the obligation start and end? "Within 6 months of completing all modules" is clear. "Within a reasonable period" is not. Look for actual numbers, and check what happens if placement takes longer than the window through no fault of yours.

5. The get-out wording

Read for phrases that hand the institute discretion:

  • "at the sole discretion of the management"
  • "subject to market conditions"
  • "subject to candidate suitability as assessed by the institute"
  • "assistance" used where you expected "guarantee"
  • "eligible students" without defining eligibility

Any one of these can be legitimate in context. Several of them together, with no numbers anywhere, means the guarantee cannot be enforced.

Questions to ask, out loud

  1. What exactly counts as a placement being made?
  2. Is there a minimum salary or a location limit?
  3. What are my obligations, in numbers?
  4. If you cannot place me, exactly how much money comes back and by when?
  5. Has anyone ever claimed the refund? How many, and how long did it take?

Question five is the one that produces the most informative silence.

Checking the claim independently

A guarantee is only as good as the institute's actual placement record. See how to verify a training institute's placement claims for how to check it yourself: named students you can call, offer letters with company names visible, and a placement percentage with a stated denominator.

What good looks like

A guarantee worth having generally has: a clear definition of placement, a stated salary floor or location scope, numbered obligations on you, a full refund of tuition with a stated deadline, a defined time window, and no discretionary escape clauses. It will be a page or two of specific language rather than a paragraph of reassurance.

It will also be shown to you before you pay.

Ours, and how to check it

Our terms are published at /placement-policy. You can read them now, before speaking to anybody, and you should read them with this article beside you. If a clause is unclear, that is a fair thing to challenge us on when you visit.

We would rather you enrolled having read the terms and understood the conditions than enrolled on the strength of the phrase "100% job guarantee", which every institute in the country prints.
