How to Choose a PLC Training Institute in Bangalore: A Checklist You Can Actually Use

Why this is hard

Search "PLC training in Bangalore" and you get a page of institutes that all promise the same things: expert trainers, hands-on labs, 100% placement, industry-recognised certification. The wording barely changes between them, almost none publish a fee, and several of the top results are directory listings rather than actual training centres.

You cannot tell them apart from the outside. You can tell them apart on the tour, if you ask the right questions.

Take this list with you. Ask every one of them, at every institute you visit, including ours.

On the tour: the hardware

1. Can I see the lab right now, with a batch in it?
A lab that can only be seen when empty is a room with equipment in it. You want to see it being used.

2. How many students share one PLC?
The answer that matters is students per working panel during a session. Two is workable. Six is a demonstration.

3. Which brands, and can I power one up?
Ask them to switch one on and go online with it. Equipment that has not been powered in months takes a while to wake up, and you will see that.

4. Is the software licensed?
Ask directly. If they train you on an unlicensed copy, you cannot legally practise at home, and neither can they claim vendor authorisation.

5. What do I actually wire?
"Hands-on" should mean you hold a screwdriver. Ask what a student physically builds during the course, and ask to see one.

On the tour: the teaching

6. Who teaches, and what did they commission?
Ask the trainer directly what plant they have worked on. Someone who has commissioned lines talks about them differently from someone who has taught about them.

7. Can I sit in on a session for thirty minutes?
A confident institute says yes. This single question is remarkably informative.

8. What happens if I fall behind?
Is there a repeat policy? Access outside class hours? A person to ask?

9. What is the batch size, and what is the actual attendance?
Enrolled and attending are different numbers.

10. What is the syllabus, week by week, in writing?

On the tour: the placement claim

This is where most of the exaggeration lives.

11. What exactly does your placement percentage measure?
Of everybody who enrolled, or everybody who completed, or everybody who "was eligible"? The denominator is where the number comes from.

12. Can I speak to two students you placed in the last three months?
Not testimonials on a wall. Names, and a phone call. This is the single most useful question on this list.

13. Which companies, and can I see offer letters with the names visible?
Company logos on a website mean nothing. Offer letters mean something.

14. Is the placement a job or an interview?
"Placement assistance" often means they forward your CV. That is a different product from placement.

15. What was the median starting salary of last quarter's placements?
Median, not maximum. Institutes quote their best outcome as though it were typical.

On the tour: the money

16. What is the total fee, including everything?
Registration, materials, exam, certificate, re-sit. Get one number.

17. Is it in writing before I pay?
Yes or no.

18. What is the refund policy if I leave in week two?
Read the actual clause, not the summary.

19. If there is a job guarantee, can I read the contract now?

20. Is there an EMI option, and what does it actually cost in total?
Financing is fine. Financing whose total is 40% above the sticker price should be a conscious decision.

The warning signs

• The fee is a secret until you visit. There is only one reason to withhold a price, and it is not your benefit.
• The guarantee cannot be read before payment.
• Placement percentages with no denominator.
• A tour that avoids the lab, or a lab that is "being upgraded".
• Pressure to book today for a discount that expires this evening.
• Trainers who cannot name a plant they have worked on.
• Certificates from bodies that do not exist independently. Search the accrediting body's own website and confirm the provider is listed. Ours is CPD, provider number 785368, and you can check it on the CPD Certification Service's site rather than taking our word for it.

The honest part

Not every institute that fails a couple of these is bad, and no institute passes all twenty perfectly. What matters is whether the answers are straight. An institute that says "our placement figure is of students who completed all modules, and here are two people you can call" is being honest with you, whatever the number turns out to be.

An institute that changes the subject is telling you something too.
