Which features use AI, and what happens to my data?

The short answer

AI is used in the Help Centre assistant, the Resources tools, the resume and CV helpers and any course advisor chat. What you type is sent to AI providers to produce the answer; we do not sell it.

Some features use artificial intelligence. Answers from the Help Centre assistant are written by an AI, not a person; you can always ask for a person: see How do I talk to a person?.

Where AI is used

  • Help Centre assistant: answers from the Help articles.
  • Resume Builder and Check your CV: reading a CV you upload and helping you write and tailor one.
  • The AI tools at [Resources](/resources): the code explainer, generators and career tools.
  • A course advisor chat, where one appears, that talks about the course catalogue.

What happens to what you type

The text you enter, and the answer, are sent to AI providers for as long as it takes to produce the answer. Anything carrying your personal details (a CV, a resume, a cover letter or your profile) goes only to providers that do not use what they are sent to train their models. A course advisor that talks about the catalogue may use providers whose free tiers may use prompts to improve their models, so do not type personal details into it.

We do not sell your data. The privacy policy names the providers.

AI can be wrong

Check anything important against the course notes or the official documentation, and never rely on an AI answer for safety on live equipment.

Still stuck?

Ask the AI assistant. If it cannot solve it, a person takes over and replies by email, usually within one working day.
