Robot Teach Pendant Simulator Online: Free Robotics Lab
Robots are learned with a pendant in your hand
Most Indian engineering students meet an industrial robot only as a picture or a short demo behind a fence. Real robot work begins with a teach pendant: the handheld unit you use to choose a mode, enable the drives and move the arm by hand. The Robotics lab in the EDWartens Lab gives you that experience in a browser, so you can learn the routine before you go near a cell.
What the clip shows
The video opens on a 3D robot cell, seen from above. There is a robot arm on a pedestal, a feeder, a conveyor, a camera, a parts tray, a fixture, an output tote and a light, all inside a fence. You can turn on labels and every part is named, so you learn the layout of a typical pick and place cell.
A worked example runs the job, and you watch the arm pick a part and place it. Then you open the teach pendant. It looks like a real one: a mode knob, status lamps for drives, fault, emergency stop and guard, a speed control, frame buttons for joint, world and tool, and a three position enabling switch that shows released, enabled and panic.
The routine you practise
Pick up the pendant. Choose the mode. Enable the drives. Jog the arm one joint at a time at a low speed. In a real cell the enabling switch is held in its middle position, and either letting go or squeezing hard stops the robot, so the lab teaches that habit with the same three positions.
Once you can jog safely, the next job is a pick and place program: teach the points the job needs and run the cycle. Try it in joint frame first, then in world or tool frame, and notice how the same jog button moves the tool differently.
Why it matters for your career
Robot makes differ in their languages and pendants, but the habits are shared: safe mode selection, enabling, slow jogging, teaching points and respecting the guard. A student who has practised them arrives at an interview or a first job with something to talk about. A technician who has only seen a pendant from a distance can try it without asking for cell time.
This is practice on a simulated cell, not training on a specific manufacturer's controller. If you later want time with real equipment, our Bangalore classroom programmes are one route, and many learners start in the lab first.
Try the pendant
Open the Robotics lab, watch the worked example once, then pick up the pendant and jog the arm yourself. Open the free Robotics lab in your browser.
It is free to start and runs in your browser.
If you want the PLC side of a robot cell taught in a classroom, our page on robotics training in Bangalore explains what is covered there and what is left to the free robot programming courses.
