Siemens PLC Training in India, From Free to SITRAIN

The short answer
Siemens PLC training in India can cost anything from ₹0 to several lakh, and the difference is mostly hardware time and supervision, not the software. Siemens' own training arm, SITRAIN India, runs 3 to 5 day TIA Portal courses (for example S7-1200 with TIA Portal, 5 days, and TIA Portal Servicing 1, 5 days) and sells a one-year SITRAIN access e-learning subscription for ₹21,500; classroom fees are shown per batch when dates open. For ₹0 you can learn TIA Portal with free online courses, Siemens' free SCE documents and the 21-day TIA Portal trial with PLCSIM. A starter set of real hardware (CPU 1212C plus a KTP400 panel) costs roughly ₹31,000 from Indian listings in October 2026.
What Siemens skills employers in India ask for
Before choosing a course, look at what the job ads ask for. We ran Naukri keyword searches on 5 October 2026. Naukri matches loosely, so these counts include some noise, but the ranking is useful.
| Naukri keyword (5 Oct 2026) | Listings | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|
| S7-1500 | 503 | The current Siemens controller for larger machines and plants |
| PROFINET | 284 | Networking is expected, not optional |
| Siemens PLC programming | 260 | General Siemens programming roles |
| WinCC | 152 | HMI and SCADA work on Siemens systems |
| TIA Portal | 143 | The engineering software for all of the above |
Siemens service and commissioning job descriptions we read typically ask for TIA Portal with S7-1200 and S7-1500, WinCC (including WinCC Unified), PROFINET and PROFIBUS, and on bigger plants PCS 7. Safety (S7-1500F and S7-1200F) matters most in machine building, and is best learned after the basics. For a fresher, the realistic target is TIA Portal on S7-1200 and S7-1500, a working HMI, and enough PROFINET to add a drive or a remote I/O station. If you have not yet chosen between brands, read Siemens or Allen-Bradley: which to learn first.
Siemens SITRAIN India: what it offers
SITRAIN is Siemens' official training organisation. The India catalogue runs on the SITRAIN portal, and a search for "TIA Portal" filtered to India returned 42 results on 5 October 2026, including classroom courses, online courses and online entry tests.
| SITRAIN India course | Code | Duration | Format | Who it is for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SIMATIC S7-1200 with TIA Portal | AS-1200B | 5 days | Classroom | Programmers, service and commissioning engineers |
| Online Training: S7-1500 with TIA Portal (Basic) | AS-OL1500B | 5 days | Online, virtual lab | Service, programming, commissioning, maintenance |
| SIMATIC S7-1500 with TIA Portal | MFC-S71500 | 3 days | Classroom | Engineers moving to S7-1500 |
| TIA Portal Servicing 1 | TIA-SERV1 | 5 days | Classroom | Maintenance and service staff, operators |
| TIA Portal Servicing 2 | TIA-SERV2 | 5 days | Classroom | Service staff after Servicing 1 |
| SINAMICS G120 with TIA Portal | DR-G12TIA | 4 days | Classroom or online | Drive commissioning |
| SITRAIN access single subscription | ACCESS-P | 365 days | E-learning | Anyone; ₹21,500 for one year |
A few things that are useful to know before booking:
- Prerequisites are real. The S7-1200 and S7-1500 courses state that basic automation knowledge and basic electrical and digital electronics are a must. Siemens publishes free online entry tests so you can check whether a course is the right level.
- Servicing 1 leads to certification. Siemens describes it as the first of two courses towards "Siemens Certified Service Technician Level 1, based on TIA Portal", and its price includes temporary access to SITRAIN access from 7 days before the course to 14 days after.
- Fees and dates appear per batch. On 5 October 2026 the core TIA Portal classroom courses showed "Currently, no events available", with an option to join a request list. You see the fee when a batch is scheduled, and you can book through the portal.
- Who it suits. SITRAIN is built for working engineers whose employer pays, and the content assumes you already know your way around a panel. It is excellent and authoritative. For a fresher paying personally, a 5-day OEM course without prior practice is a lot of content in a short time.
Siemens also signed an agreement in 2017 with Karnataka's Government Tool Room and Training Centre (GTTC) to set up Centres of Excellence, including one in Bangalore. Check GTTC directly for any current automation courses; we could not find published fees.

Siemens PLC course free: what you can get for ₹0
Siemens gives away more than most people realise.
- SCE learning and training documents. Siemens Automation Cooperates with Education (SCE) offers 100+ learning documents, 40+ digital learning modules and 160+ web-based trainings, free, in up to eight languages. You need a free SiePortal account. The S7-1200 textbook covers hardware configuration, FC and FB programming, IEC timers and counters, analog values, data blocks, WinCC Basic, SCL and the PID controller.
- TIA Portal trial with PLCSIM. Siemens offers a 21-day trial of STEP 7, WinCC and S7-PLCSIM through Industry Online Support. You need a free account, and you should plan your study around the 21 days. Our six-week plan for learning TIA Portal free schedules exactly that.
- EDWartens free Siemens courses. All modules, notes, practice tasks and the final assessment are free. The Siemens TIA Portal course is the starting point, then the S7-1200 tutorial series, the TIA Portal HMI course with WinCC, PROFINET and Industrial Ethernet, S7-1500 advanced programming and Siemens Safety Integrated.
Siemens PLC course with certificate
The certificate question splits three ways. SITRAIN courses are Siemens-run training, and the SITRAIN certification programme adds a formal Siemens certification after its own tests. Siemens' free SCE material gives you knowledge but no certificate. Our free courses give an optional EDWartens Certificate of Completion after you pass the final: ₹459 (beginner), ₹559 (intermediate) or ₹959 (advanced) including GST. Be realistic about all of them: an employer hires the person who can explain the program they built. See PLC simulator vs real hardware for what interviewers actually check.
The cost of learning hardware
You can learn most of TIA Portal on PLCSIM. Real hardware matters for wiring, download, going online, diagnostics and PROFINET device names. These are prices from Indian seller listings we checked in October 2026; they vary by seller, condition and GST, so treat them as a guide.
| Item | Listed price (Oct 2026) | Source |
|---|---|---|
| S7-1200 CPU 1212C DC/DC/DC (6ES7212-1AE40-0XB0) | ₹11,500 | Seller listing, Ahmedabad |
| S7-1200 CPU 1214C DC/DC/DC (6ES7214-1AG40-0XB0) | ₹19,783 to ₹23,000 | IndiaMART listings |
| KTP400 Basic HMI (6AV2123-2DB03-0AX0) | ₹19,781 to ₹40,000 | IndiaMART listings |
| Generic S7-1200 trainer kit | from ₹20,000 | IndiaMART listing, contents vary |
| SITRAIN access, one year | ₹21,500 | SITRAIN India |
A CPU 1212C with a KTP400 from the lowest listings comes to about ₹31,000, before a 24 V DC power supply, switches, lamps, cables and a STEP 7 licence once the trial ends. Check the article number before you buy: the DC/DC/DC version has transistor outputs and the AC/DC/RLY version has relay outputs, and used units should come with a firmware version that your TIA Portal version supports.
Is it worth buying? For a fresher, usually not yet. Spend the first month on PLCSIM. Buy hardware when you can already write a sequence and want to practise wiring and diagnostics, or use an institute's panels instead.
Paths by budget
Here is how we would advise a junior engineer to spend, from nothing upwards.
- ₹0. Free EDWartens Siemens courses, Siemens SCE documents, the 21-day TIA Portal trial with PLCSIM, and a Factory I/O trial for moving scenes. Output: a simulated project you can demonstrate.
- Low cost, roughly ₹21,500 to ₹45,000. Add a SITRAIN access subscription (₹21,500 a year) for Siemens' own e-learning, or a CPU and HMI from the table above. Output: hands-on wiring and online diagnostics.
- OEM course. A 3 to 5 day SITRAIN classroom course. Best when you already work with Siemens equipment and your employer can sponsor it. Output: Siemens-authored content and a route to Siemens certification.
- Full classroom programme. Several months of supervised panel work across brands, aimed at getting a first job. Fees vary widely; ask what hardware time and placement terms you are paying for.

Q: What is the Siemens PLC course price in India?
A: SITRAIN India shows classroom fees per batch when dates are scheduled; its one-year SITRAIN access e-learning subscription costs ₹21,500. Free routes cost ₹0, and EDWartens' optional certificate after a free course costs ₹459 to ₹959 including GST.
Q: Can I learn a Siemens PLC course online?
A: Yes. SITRAIN runs online courses such as the 5-day S7-1500 basic course with a virtual lab, and free online courses cover TIA Portal from the basics. Pair any online course with PLCSIM so you practise, not just watch.
Q: Is there a free Siemens PLC course?
A: Yes. Siemens' SCE documents are free with a SiePortal account, the TIA Portal trial runs for 21 days, and EDWartens' Siemens courses are free to complete, including the final assessment.
Q: Do I need to buy an S7-1200 to learn TIA Portal?
A: No. PLCSIM simulates the CPU for programming practice. Buy hardware later, when you want to practise wiring, downloading and diagnostics; a CPU 1212C was listed at ₹11,500 in October 2026.
Q: Which Siemens skills get freshers hired?
A: TIA Portal on S7-1200 and S7-1500, an HMI in WinCC, and basic PROFINET. On Naukri in October 2026, S7-1500 and PROFINET appeared in more listings than any other Siemens keywords we checked.
Q: Is a Siemens PLC course with certificate worth it?
A: A Siemens certificate carries weight with Siemens-heavy employers, but no certificate replaces a project you can explain. Use the certificate to pass a screen and the project to pass the interview.
